Shirley J. Dickey-Cottrell, 78, went home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was at her happiest when her whole family was together. She was a member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by parents, Alta Mae and John Herman Cole; numerous siblings, in-laws, and first husband and father of her children “George” Leonard Dickey. She is survived by husband, Marvin Cottrell, children: Vickie (Fred) Clevenger, Tammi (Rick) Thomas, Sherri (Rick) Romesburg, Cindy (Steve) Srock, Pam (Mike) Karson, Scott (Candy) Dickey, Thomas Dickey; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and Marvin’s family. She is also survived by sisters, Barbara Knepper, Margaret Smith; brother-in-law, Lawrence (Pat) Dickey, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Boulevard. Funeral services will be at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, 2330 E. Market Street, Akron on Wednesday, 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor David Bogue with calling hours one hour prior to the service. Private burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
