John “Johnny” F. Nunez, 79, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord Jesus and his wife Edie on April 17, 2024.
Johnny was born in Akron, Ohio on August 1, 1944. He lived a rather simple life, and was a generous and loving man who was always there for his friends and family. Johnny married the love of his life, Edie, on November 9, 1963. John and Edie spent 59 beautiful years together, raising their family and building their lives upon Christ. Their marriage was the perfect example of God’s love here on Earth. John worked for several years as a machinist for Karder Machine and retired from Babcock and Wilcox after working for over 40 years in the NDE Lab as a tradesman and supervisor. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was loved by so many people, and he will be missed dearly.
John is survived by his two sons, Steven Nunez and Patrick (Szilvia) Nunez; his five grandchildren, Daniel Wells, Michael (Somer) Nunez, Jessica (Brandon) Sparks, and Cloe and Jay Hovanec; and great-granddaughter Emilia Nunez. He is also survived by his sisters Aurora Metzger, Gracinda Sams, Roberta Schoolcraft, and Gloria Herron, as well as several nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Edie Nunez; parents Robert and Mary Nunez; siblings Elvira Elliott, Juana Winkler, Manule Nunez, Zita Nunez, Horace Pedro, and Laura Andrews.
Calling hours will be held at Prentice Funeral Home in Akron on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. A small memorial service is to follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula, Ohio, where Johnny will be laid to rest, forever by Edie’s side.
